Book Fair

Hello, and thank you for your interest in the Book Fair!

The MCDS Book Fair celebrates our school's love of literature and reading. The first Book Fair took place in 1958. Now, over 65 years later, this week-long celebration of books is a favorite for many MCDS families. Events span a week in early December and include an opening night party, a literary luncheon with a guest speaker, a weekend family day and student assemblies with visiting authors. All the proceeds from the Book Fair benefit the school library and our community partners.

No contribution is too small! Volunteer opportunities accommodate a wide variety of schedules and availability. This is also a great chance to connect with fellow book enthusiasts and literary lovers.

Here is a brief description of the volunteer roles:

Cashier:

Sign up for a couple-hour shift ringing up customers at Book Fair. Training is provided at the start of the shift. We highly recommend signing up for multiple shifts as the time goes fast!

Opening Party:

Sign up for a one-hour shift setting up, serving, or bartending at our Opening Party book viewing and dinner.

Used Books:

Help pre-sort, set up, merchandise, and/or break down our heavily trafficked Used Book section.

Family Day Activities:

Support the family activities planned for Book Fair's Family Day on Saturday.

Literary Luncheon:

Help plate salads for the luncheon or clean up following the event.

This amazing community-building event could only occur with help from people like you! We are so grateful for any and all volunteer support.

We begin recruiting Book Selectors for next year immediately following the current Book Fair. If you are interested in curating the fantastic collection of books, please complete the interest form below.
